It was very interesting and amusing to see the feedback on the "Twiice as Nice" feature in our July newsletter with regards to local furniture suppliers selling copies of original designs. Feedback ranged from the positive with those that agreed and applauded genuine design and those that were not at all impressed -offended!- and those that said, well fine - any exposure is good exposure.
My question at the moment is where is design integrity and has the love for design now become obsolete? It seems to me that there are too many that feel a copy is okay, they mention price but a lot of the copies I have seen are being sold at a price not too far off from the original, bare in mind the original will last longer and in effect you save much more - if money is the argument. Moreover I find it very difficult to understand that designers would even think about copying a design. Recently I visited the new offices of a multi-national advertising agency and to my great surprise I found copies of Twiice's furniture (Vitra's original designs)!
We will keep you updated on many exciting Twiice events this summer ranging from fashion shows, product launches, nautical events etc.
